Soul

What is a soul? 
Wikipedia defines as, "The soul—in many traditional spiritual, philosophical, and psychological traditions—is the incorporeal and immortal essence of a person, living thing, or object.^[1] According to some religions (including the Abrahamic religions in most of their forms), souls—or at least immortal souls capable of union with the divine^[2]—belong only to human beings. Soul can function as a synonym for spirit, mind or self;^[5] scientific works, in particular, often consider 'soul' as a synonym for 'mind".
The dictionary defines soul as, "the immaterial essence, animating principle, or actuating cause of an individual life".


I think and believe the majority of people don't realize they are searching for their soul. Many people are born into religious families and grow up with these beliefs, some question and others just blindly accept. I wonder if those who blindly accept ever listen to their essence? What of those who question? Are they listening to their essence? What makes people devote their lives to religion, i.e.; nuns, monks, priests, etc...is it their essence telling them this is the way? Why, is it some believe there is no soul?


In all my searching throughout my life I realized two things. 1) I always prayed to God; even when I doubted Him. 2)I've been looking for my soul for a very long time. Only to come realize its all within. All your questions have answers if you actually stop to listen to yourself. Your soul & God are always with you; but yet in those hard times every person goes through; the first thing we think about is, "Why, God? Why, me"! Some would even "sell" their soul to the "devil" in order to lead an easy life. When did we start placing blame for our actions and circumstances to an unforeseeable force? What makes people think they can sell their soul?


Your soul is you. It is a part of you always. No one can give it away or take it from you. It doesn't work that way. The soul sits quietly waiting for you to remember who you really are. God, your higher self, or whatever you believe in will show you the way to waking up your soul. You just gotta pay attention and be thankful always. Life is a beautiful thing to have; we should be thankful everyday for this life. Some souls don't even get the chance to experience this plane of existence. Treat yourself well, surround yourself with like minded people, share in your experiences, be kind, honest, loyal, considerate and love...always love...without love your life will be bleak and meaningless. Love is the first step in understanding.
